My old Mercury is 19 years old and I suspected the oil pan gasket was leaking. Dave said: who told you that? In other words, let me check it out and see if that is true. Dave felt the drain plug was the main culprit. He mentioned since I had exhaust work done on the car, that if I needed an oil pan gasket, it would be quite a job, as parts might need to be cut and more welding might be needed. He felt it prudent to see if the car is still leaking, it might not be so why do a big job if it is not necessary. I also had the transmission fluid and filter changed as it had been 27K miles since the last change. The car has 125K miles and I want to keep it running, so clean fluid is helpful in keeping cars alive. He called and said the tie rods were loose . I had just changed the 2 front tires and the inside treads were badly worn, so it is possible those tie rods were behind the premature tire failure. Steering seems a bit tighter with the new tie rods. I have another car that has a stiff console shifter. Dave feels it is 1 of 2 issues and not that mysterious. When I get a chance, I will get that car to him too. So, I went by the reviews which were positive and felt my experience with Dave was a good one, he is easy to talk to.
